We all know you can <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/browse\/google\">google<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/browse\/fedex\">fedex<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/browse\/xerox\">xerox<\/a>, but does youtube merit a verb form?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m leaning towards no.  The trouble is, one can search for videos on youtube as well as post them.  So, does &#8220;youtube it&#8221; mean &#8220;<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">look <\/span>for that video on youtube&#8221; or &#8220;<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">post <\/span>that video on youtube&#8221;? <\/p>\n<p>It could be argued that context would be the deciding factor between the two meanings,<br \/>but take for example the following conversation:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 204, 0);\">&#8220;Where did you get this video?&#8221;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">&#8220;I youtubed it.&#8221;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 204, 0);\">&#8220;Oh, you posted it to youtube?&#8221;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">&#8220;No, I <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic; color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">found <\/span><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">it <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic; color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">on <\/span><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">youtube.&#8221;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 204, 0);\">&#8220;I say.  This would be easier if &#8216;youtube&#8217; were not a verb.&#8221;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\">&#8220;Quite right, sir; quite right.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Youtube it!&#8221; I overheard this imperative the other day.
