Too bad, really.  People went crazy trying to dress up like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsday.com\/sports\/football\/jets\/ny-spjersey0808,0,2795319.story\">newly Jetted Brett Favre<\/a>, and no one seems to mind.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, more often than not cosplay, as evidenced by these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maximumpc.com\/article\/features\/comiccon_08_four_days_four_hundred_cosplay_photos?page=0%2C2\">pics<\/a> from comic-con, ends up with scrawny guys trying to look like super-soldiers &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/dl.maximumpc.com\/comiccon2008\/cosplay071_full.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 151px; height: 227px;\" src=\"http:\/\/dl.maximumpc.com\/comiccon2008\/cosplay071_full.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>fat men dressed as super-soldiers&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Alex\/AppData\/Local\/Temp\/moz-screenshot.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/dl.maximumpc.com\/comiccon2008\/cosplay162_full.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 140px; height: 211px;\" src=\"http:\/\/dl.maximumpc.com\/comiccon2008\/cosplay162_full.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and women dressed in utter teenage-geek-fantasy skantitude&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/dl.maximumpc.com\/comiccon2008\/cosplay393_full.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 120px; height: 181px;\" src=\"http:\/\/dl.maximumpc.com\/comiccon2008\/cosplay393_full.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>but sometimes the hobby\/obsession can yield some i<a href=\"http:\/\/knuttz.net\/hosted_pages\/Amazine-Cosplayers-20080722\">mpressive recreations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/media.knuttz.net\/0807\/22-cosplay\/cosplay-20.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 360px; height: 233px;\" src=\"http:\/\/media.knuttz.net\/0807\/22-cosplay\/cosplay-20.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The trouble is that comics and video-games, being visual media, are of course going to depict impossibly good-looking people in physically improbable clothing.  You can dress your average person up like Green Lantern all you want, but it&#8217;s going to look strange unless he&#8217;s body-builder with plastic sprayed on his skin.
