{"id":906,"date":"2010-01-27T20:07:00","date_gmt":"2010-01-28T01:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/galaxyalex.com\/?p=906"},"modified":"2010-01-27T20:07:00","modified_gmt":"2010-01-28T01:07:00","slug":"three-avatar-games-which-should-be-made","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/galaxyalex.com\/?p=906","title":{"rendered":"Three Avatar Games Which Should Be Made"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/span>  <\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">So, <i>Avatar <\/i>was pretty good, but the game was apparently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/search\/process?sb=0&amp;tfs=all&amp;ts=james+cameron%27s+avatar&amp;ty=3&amp;x=24&amp;y=15\">not so hot<\/a>.&nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Here are a few examples of what they should have done:<\/span><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"><br \/>&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/b><br \/><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"> <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><b><i><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">James Cameron&#8217;s Avatar: Hunter&#8217;s Moon&nbsp; <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">This is the one which will satisfy the often-climbing-sometimes-<wbr><\/wbr>fighting requirement of contemporary action games.&nbsp; It&#8217;ll be like <i>Assassin&#8217;s Creed<\/i>, but in the jungle with climbable objects everywhere.&nbsp; And I do mean <i>everywhere<\/i>.&nbsp; Every tree, every floating mountain, everything.<br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"> <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_hU3PO1VZHQA\/S2DaCiyb5dI\/AAAAAAAAAeo\/AhJ0pXzMgSg\/s1600-h\/assassin.png\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_hU3PO1VZHQA\/S2DaCiyb5dI\/AAAAAAAAAeo\/AhJ0pXzMgSg\/s320\/assassin.png\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"> <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Set during the Sky-people occupation but before the events of the movie (hereinafter referred to as \u201cThe Hometree Event\u201d or &#8220;THE&#8221;), this title tracks the development of a young Na&#8217;vi during the trials he faces to become a man.&nbsp; The events would be similar to \u201cgoing native\u201d parts of the movie as he learns to climb stuff, bond with the domesticated animals, shoot a bow, fall from great heights, etc.&nbsp; Another Na&#8217;vi (you know, the one with blue eyes and black hair) will act as his foil, persistently making him look bad and getting him in trouble.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">The setting, though, would not be at the Hometree, but rather in another clan; this is key.&nbsp; Stop making us replay the events of the movies \u2013 let the developers run wild with the world you have created and make new stories within its confines.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Our protagonist will have a curiosity about the Skypeople, and will travel great distances to witness them despite the warning of his clan leadership, leading to all manner of misadventures.&nbsp; If you must tie in with the movie, then in the late game the Kwisatz Haderach will show up riding Big Red and our boy will aid in convincing his clan to mount up.&nbsp; We take part in the big awesome ending battle, including a battlefield duel with the rival in which the protagonist prevents him from killing the clan leader.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_hU3PO1VZHQA\/S2DcKOik1WI\/AAAAAAAAAew\/hfE0nBaPTYQ\/s1600-h\/dune-special-edition.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_hU3PO1VZHQA\/S2DcKOik1WI\/AAAAAAAAAew\/hfE0nBaPTYQ\/s320\/dune-special-edition.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><i><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Age of James Cameron&#8217;s Avatar<\/span><\/b><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">The RTS, set twenty years after THE.&nbsp; The Skypeople are back, and this time they brought the big guns; no more retooling shuttles to be bombers. And of course the key to a good RTS is in the teams and their elite units:<br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Clan: Human miners.&nbsp; The bad guys from the movie, still just looking to dig up the cheekily-named unobtainium.&nbsp; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Elite unit: those &#8220;get away from her you bitch&#8221; walker things<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Clan: Human datajackers.&nbsp; When the Skypeople return, they\u2019re going to want to check out this whole entire-biosphere-is-a-network-<wbr><\/wbr>of-memories thing and exploit it. &nbsp;Imagine the processing power if all the living matter on a planet is hot-swappable &#8212; I\u2019ll bet they\u2019ll want to do something more with that than just beat Russians at chess.&nbsp; These guys come in and interface with the native flora and wildlife, and can turn it against whoever bothers them.&nbsp; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Elite unit: Hacker.&nbsp; Can turn any technology (human or Navi-natural) to its own side.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Clan: Na&#8217;vi traditional.&nbsp; Horses, dragonthings, bows and arrows.&nbsp; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Elite Unit: Priest of Eywa.&nbsp; After seeing that the mother goddess will send hordes of badass beasties if you ask nicely, a sect of Na&#8217;vi shamans focus on just that.&nbsp; They can\u2019t bring the stampede every turn, but when they do?&nbsp; Good times.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Clan: Navipunks.&nbsp; Native Pandorans who salvaged the Skypeople tech after the Hometree Event.&nbsp; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Elite Unit: Coptertroops.&nbsp; They\u2019ve got helicopter backpacks.&nbsp; They\u2019ve got bows.&nbsp; They will fly around and kill you.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Clan: Dark Na&#8217;vi.&nbsp; Descendants of one of the clans unwillingly subjugated by the grandfather\u2019s-grandfather, these Na&#8217;vi refuse to bond with the forest.&nbsp; They live in caves, eating yummy fishes.&nbsp; Now, these guys are no idiots; they know where the unobtainium is and how to get it, and they will use this advantage to befriend the Skypeople and destroy their age-old enemies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Elite Unit: Underminer.&nbsp; It\u2019s off to work these guys go until your fortifications have fallen into the earth.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; font-size: 10pt;\"><i><b>James Cameron&#8217;s Avatar: Winged Horizon<br \/><\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">Somebody call up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.factor5.de\/\">Factor 5<\/a> and get them on this.&nbsp; The story of the previous Toruk Makto, the dragonrider who unified the clans.&nbsp; I think it&#8217;s safe to say he accomplished this by all manner of badassery.&nbsp; Fly around, kill stuff.&nbsp; See all of Pandora and wage large-scale dragon battles.&nbsp; What could be better?<i><b> <br \/><\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\">And personally I would like to see the Na&#8217;vi paired up with <a href=\"http:\/\/thegamerlifestyle.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/hey-listen.html\">Navi <\/a>from <i>Ocarina of Time<\/i>. &nbsp; But come on, what are the chanced of <i>that <\/i>getting made?<i><b><br \/><\/b><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;\"><i><b>&nbsp;<\/b><\/i><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, Avatar was pretty good, but the game was apparently not so hot.&nbsp;
