After the events of <em>Star Wars: A New Hope<\/em>, no sane member of the Empire would believe the Death Star had been real.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div>An entire planet destroyed by a battle station? A man-made moon? This baseless nonsense has been sent around the galaxy in forwarded emails and treated as if it were fact. The explosion of Alderaan is the greatest tragedy in recent memory, and marginalized political groups trying to bend the facts to suit their ends is shameful.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Fact: The only accounts of the \u201cobliteration\u201d of Alderaan via a mysterious \u201cDeath Star\u201d come from terrorists.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>They allege that they destroyed this massive station and killed everyone on it. No witnesses \u2014 convenient.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>(read the rest <a href=\"https:\/\/galaxyalex.com\/?p=842\">here<\/a>)<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Some clever folks have estimated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centives.net\/S\/2012\/how-much-would-it-cost-to-build-the-death-star\/\">the cost to build a Death Star <\/a>based on the current price of steel. It&#8217;s a lot.
